Fishing Trip Shell Creek Alabama River 3/21/26 Millers Ferry Alabama River Come Fish Alabama

Our Fishing Trip Below The Highway 28 River Bridge.

Well we are back again. Tyler decided he was ready to go on a fishing trip to Shell Creek on the Alabama River at Millers Ferry and wanted to see if the Bass were biting. I told him I knew where the Bass were and they are probably starting to spawn. So we decided to go put in at Shell Creek Landing on the Alabama River across the river from the Millers Ferry Marina Check this link out for more info on Shell Creek Landing https://comefishalabama.com/shell-creek-boat-landing-on-the-alabama-river/ Any way we put in at about 7:20 am about an hour later than we had planned and idled our way out of Shell Creek. This is always an adventure because all channel buoys/markers are gone. Fair warning if you go straight out of Shell Creek and Follow the old bridge out to the river there is a good chance your prop will get wrapped with trot lines.

We shot straight down the Alabama River to the Millers Ferry Dam and took a right right at the rock bank. Tyler was throwing a Zoom Purple Lizard on a light Spinning Reel. I was throwing a Chartruese Lizard of course my go to this time of year on a Black Max Rod and Reel set up. With in 5 minutes Tyler got his first Largemouth Bass Female about 2.5 pounds. From then on it was fish on for him I caught one Bass about 2 pounds Female.

All in all he caught 5 Nice Largemouth Bass with that Zoom Purple Lizard. At about 9:30 the Sky cleared and the fish stopped biting. not even a nibble. The Alabama River water level at Millers Ferry was up a little but not bad. Water was a little murkey to clear. Fishing was good early morning. And this is the most important piece of info you need at this point. The female Largemouth Bass because we caught no Spotted Bass yesterday were not completely full of mature eggs yet, The females were not up on the banks as much as they would be if they were spawning. They are getting close though.
