Fishing Below Millers Ferry Dam
5/12/22 Update. Wilcox County is working on the dirt road heading into Cobbs Landing this week.
If you are wanting to fish below the Millers Ferry Dam in Wilcox County, Alabama Cobbs Landing is going to be your first access point. Turn off of Alabama Highway 28 at mile marker 78 and continue about 3 miles. Cobbs is the first landing below the Dam on Claiborne Lake and will allow you to run up river to the Millers Ferry Lock and Dam or Powerhouse or you can go down to the rock walls and catch a mess of bass. Get the Millers Ferry Dam water generation schedule here if you are catfishing. http://spatialdata.sam.usace.army.mil/hydropower/default.aspx You will be glad you did cause those catfish won’t hardly bite until the water starts moving.
Watch the weather before you go to Cobbs Landing or bring the 4×4 truck because mud does build up at the bottom of the ramps after a water level change. Cobbs landing has 2 boat ramps available for use but there is no dock. At this time there is no drop box for a landing fee either.
As you can see in the picture above this landing has a bathroom but it is not Handicap accessible. There is plenty of parking available at Cobbs landing. Do not forget the bait or go to the powerhouse and throw your cast net and catch a bucket of shad. Check out my other post about where to get bait and non-ethanol gas in the area https://www.comefishalabama.com/post/where-to-get-non-ethanol-gas-when-headed-to-lake-millers-ferry-al
