Fishing Below the Millers Ferry Dam
After crossing over the Alabama River Bridge in Millers Ferry on Alabama Highway 28. Take the first left and follow the old paved road all the way to the end about 3 miles and you will find the Millers Ferry Dam Lower Side fishing area. This is the first place to fish below Millers Ferry Lock and Dam. There is a lifted single portable restroom here. There is also 3 covered picnic tables. Ample parking and a small area to walk around take pictures and enjoy the scenery.

When you are looking towards the Millers Ferry Dam you will see plenty of rock to fish off of. when the water is up in the spring you can fish off of the grass. But if you walk about halfway to the Dam there is a stream that drains into the Alabama River. It is a great place to fish. You can see it on Google Maps. Keep walking and you can go on up to the Dam and fish close to it. Take you some fresh bait. I have fished with crawfish and caught nothing but Drum here. Wont be doing that again. Used shad and minnow and caught my fair share of Blue Catfish but no really big ones.
If you walk the other direction you will find kind of a sandbar. I have caught a bunch of fish on this end but you have got to cast way out there. The water is fairly shallow for a ways here. I have camped and built fires out here many times with little to no one else around.

If you get a chance take a drive and a pole and maybe some shad or worms to the lower side of the Millers Ferry Dam. Its something to see when the Dam Gates are open.
