Is The Fishing Better Above Or Below Millers Ferry Dam
If you have ever fished or done any jugging below Millers Ferry Dam at Millers Ferry, Alabama you already know the answer to this question. The answer is Yes the fishing is better below the Dam, In more ways than one. Whether it is Bass, Crappie, Bream or Catfish, the fish below Millers Ferry Dam have seen way less fishing pressure over the last 30 years.
Millers Ferry Power House
The Millers Ferry Power House by far is the busiest Alabama River Bank Fishing Area below Millers Ferry Lock and Dam. There is a long set of stairs that leads to an old fishing platform and a walkway to the edge of the Power House. When the water is being pulled through the Power House you can catch a mess of catfish.
On the far side of the Power House people use to be allowed to walk across and fish the bank, but not anymore. If you can get your boat in over there the Bream school over next to the rocky edge. Years ago when you could walk across I watched an old lady sitting on a bucket catching Bream after Bream, and they were all eating size. And yes bring some bobbers because the rocks will take every weight you have if you are bottom fishing here.

The one key to catching fish below Millers Ferry Lock and Dam or any Dam for that matter is current. The water needs to be moving. If the water level is above full pool above the damn, the spillways at the dam will be open, creating current.
