Lake Millers Ferry Bass Fishing Trip

Bass Fishing Trip On Lake Millers Ferry, Alabama

Well here we go again. I decided to take an Alabama River fishing trip back to Shell Creek Landing https://comefishalabama.com/shell-creek-boat-landing-on-the-alabama-river/ and go down to Millers Ferry Lock and Dam and see if the Spotted and Largemouth Bass are still in the shallow water. Currently the William Bill Dannelly Reservoir (Lake Millers Ferry) is still above full pool check lake level here http://www.lakelevels.info/USA/Alabama/

Having above full pool lake level allows us shallow water Bass fisherman to get up in those shallow areas where the Bass feed on Bream and Shad from time to time. I still have not noticed a lot of Shad snapping around. Although the Bream fry are everywhere. The shad I caught today were on the larger side up to 6 inches. With the shad not being chased and popping on top of the water, it would not make sense to use a crankbait so I used my Zoom 6 inch Lizard.

First things first, I decided to go straight down to the Millers Ferry Lock and Dam and beat the banks. I ended following the bank on up to the Alabama Highway 28 bridge. The Bass were biting well, or might I say the Spotted Bass were biting well.

The wind was terrible today but it did not hinder the fishing. I ended up catching 8 Bass and 1 Drum. My best 5 Bass was around 12 pounds in my estimate. Seeing how I got there early this morning I called it quits at 10 am. I probably could have caught a few more but that wind was whipping and there were few clouds in the sky.

The lake still being above full pool and the powerhouse pretty much doubling there schedule for the summer, the water is moving and the Spotted Bass are on fire. We have been blessed this year with rain keeping the Lake Millers Ferry water levels up. I hope you enjoyed this post on my Alabama River Fishing Trip.
