Top Fishing Spots For Lake Millers Ferry Alabama River
If you have ever wondered where the best fishing spots on the Alabama River are for Spotted, Largemouth Bass, Bream and Crappie wonder no more. This is the best fishing spots.
#3 Chilatchee Creek
Chilatchee Creek is a beautiful fishing spot on the Alabama River at Lake Millers Ferry. Chillatchee Creek can be accessed by boat ramp at the Chilatchee Creek Landing or the Alabama River a few miles up from Roland Cooper State Park. If Bass Fishing is your thing, the shad are packed into this creek when the Bass start chasing them in the summer. The Crappie are also in this creek. Use your electronics to find the numerous sunken tree tops and enjoy. It ranges in depth from 12 feet to 2 feet.
#2 Buzzards Roost
Now I don’t know if you would call this a slough or a lake or backwater. Depths range from 2 feet on the bank to 12 feet out in the middle of Buzzards Roost on the Alabama River. This area used to be full of visual tree stumps all out through it. Now they have been broken off and can be seen with electronics and hold and attract Largemouth, Spotted Bass and Crappie. On the banks you will find plenty of Bass and occasional Bream beds. The last time my wife and I made a trip to Buzzards Roost in the Spring we caught 22 Bass on the bank farthest from the Alabama River. Its only access point is from the Alabama River year around.
#1 Pine Barren Creek
Pine Barren Creek Is One Of The Most Beautiful Spots On The Alabama River. Once you follow the creek mouth from the Alabama River on Lake Millers Ferry this place opens up and you will think you are in a different world. You could spend numerous days fishing Pine Barren Creek. Like Buzzards Roost there are stumps in the middle that attract Bass and Crappie. There is plenty of grass, reeds and lily pads to Bass fish and the shad are packed up in here during the summer months also. It has plenty of Crappie tops and Bream tops, if that is what you prefer to fish for. This is my favorite spot to fish on the Alabama River mainly because of the peace and quiet being away from the main channel of the river. Its only access point is from the Alabama River year around and depths range from 16 feet to 2 feet.
