Where To Safely Launch Your Kayak On Lake Millers Ferry
Bridgeport City Landing, Camden, Alabama
This will always be my go to Boat Ramp for launching a small craft or kayak. There are bathroom facilities and It is handicap accessible. I have another post on Bridgeport City Landing with pics and Info here https://comefishalabama.com/bridgeport-city-landing-camden-alabama/ I am going to warn you that on the weekend this will be the busiest landing in the area because it is the largest and most of the area Fishing Tournaments are fished out of the boat launch. Food, Bait and Hotels are close by.
Roland Cooper State Park Boat Ramp
Roland Cooper State Park Boat Ramp is part of the State Park and of course you would have to follow the requirements at the gate to launch your Yak. But it is not difficult and usually you just use the drop box. There are restrooms and plenty of parking. Here is a link to a post I put together for Launching your Boat at Roland Cooper State Park https://comefishalabama.com/roland-cooper-state-park-boat-landing/ When you launch you are not in the main channel of the Alabama River and there is plenty of area to catch fish or just paddle around.
Ellis Landing Right Outside The City Of Camden, Alabama
I always enjoy launching my boat here. It brings back so many childhood memories. You are only a few miles from town and have access to food, bait and beer. Speaking of food the best Drive In in the state of Alabama is not far away and it is Larry’s Drive In. Larry’s is where you need to go to pack your lunchbox with the best Cheeseburger or BBQ sandwich around. There is a new boat launch fee machine here also, so no need for cash just swipe your debit card to pay your launch fee. When you launch you are launching in a slough and not on the main channel. So there is some great shallow water fishing and some boat docks to fish across the way. Shell Creek Landing On The Alabama River At Lake Millers Ferry
I like this Shell Creek Landing because the parking lot is never full during the week or on the weekend. There is a restroom available but it is not handicap accessible. It is quiet and when you launch you are in a small slough off from the main channel of the Alabama River. Across the river is the Millers Ferry Camping Area. They also have a boat ramp to launch your kayak but it is in a slough also and not in the main channel. The Marina use to be open right across the slough from the Millers Ferry Campground but it has been demolished at this time. So bring your food and snacks and bait before you get here.
